Isabella Tjäder

Isabella Tjäder is a Stockholm-based curator interested in language, listening and the subversive potential of stories told well. Her work relies on radical imagination and emotional attentiveness, invites absurdity and embraces humor. She has written, translated, produced, taught, curated for and with a number of contemporary art institutions, among them the Royal Institute of Art, Stockholm; Art & Theory Publishing Stockholm; Tensta konsthall, Spånga; Konsthall C, Farsta; Konstfrämjandet, Stockholm and Marabouparken konsthall, Sundbyberg. As of 2024, she is the Co-Director at Index Foundation, Stockholm.

While co-directing Index — The Swedish Contemporary Art Foundation, she has been invited to curate exhibitions internationally at institutions such as Kunsthal Charlottenburg, Copenhagen and La Cappella, Bern and has produced exhibitions and artworks in collaboration with MoMA PS1, NYC; Gropius Bau, Berlin; Secession, Vienna; rhizome, NYC; Overgaden, Copenhagen; Kunsthall Trondheim, and Manifesta 15, Barcelona.

Isabella Tjäder is visiting Vienna on a group research trip in June 2025.
