Marina Faust
Frac-Artothèque, France
1 October 2026 - 30 April 2027
Frac-Artothèque Nouvelle-Aquitaine in Limoges is a public institution dedicated to contemporary art. It uniquely combines a regional art collection (Frac) with an art lending library (Artothèque), making more than 7,000 works accessible to the public. Located in a renovated industrial space, the centre offers exhibitions, workshops and immersive digital experiences, fostering dialogue between artists and audiences across the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region.
The exhibition Sans contrefaçon, anatomie d’un vêtement (Counterfeit-free, anatomy of a garment) will focus on the political and historical dimensions of textiles and clothing. The show will highlight Faust’s sculptural work Rolling Stoolsand debut her Shoes series – an exploration of footwear as architectural form and cultural symbol. It will also include reprints from her Miniatures series, a photographic project created between 1986 and 1988, reinforcing her unique dialogue between fashion, movement and identity.
Marina Faust (born 1950 in Vienna) is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice spans photography, video, sculpture and collage. Her work explores identity, subjectivity and psychological tension. Her installations and photographic series blur boundaries between documentation and abstraction, offering poetic reflections on the self and its surroundings.
This is her first collaboration with Phileas.
This project was aided by a research trip to Vienna by the curator Marianne Derrien, organised by Phileas in July 2024.
In summer 2026, Phileas will offer a first glimpse into the upcoming exhibition in Limoges at our exhibition space at Opernring 17.
