Manuela Ammer studied Journalism and Communication Studies as well as Art History in Vienna. From 2011 to 2014, she was a research associate at the Collaborative Research Center 626: Aesthetic Experience in the Sign of the Dissolution of Artistic Boundaries at the Freie Universität Berlin (DE), and in 2006 to 2007, she worked as a curatorial assistant for documenta 12 (DE). Since 2014, Ammer has been a curator at mumok – Museum of Modern Art Ludwig Foundation, Vienna (AT), where she has been responsible for numerous exhibitions, including projects with artists such as Benoît Piéron, Ulrike Müller and Bruno Gironcoli. In 2017, she co-initiated the project Klassensprachen together with Eva Birkenstock, Jenny Nachtigall, Kerstin Stakemeier, and Stephanie Weber, with exhibitions at district Berlin (DE) and the Kunstverein für die Rheinlande und Westfalen in Düsseldorf (DE). Ammer has taught as a guest professor and lecturer at the University of Applied Arts Vienna (AT) and the Berlin University of the Arts (DE).

Manuela Ammer will visit Spain on a curatorial exchange with Catapulta in March 2026.
