A conversation with Hans Ulrich Obrist

On 18 November, we will welcome Hans Ulrich Obrist, curator, critic and Artistic Director of Serpentine Galleries, London, for an evening conversation with Phileas Director Margherita Belcredi. As part of our Art Writing Programme, Obrist will speak about his curatorial practice, writing on contemporary art, and the art of the interview.
Hans Ulrich Obrist (b. 1968, Zürich, Switzerland) is Artistic Director of Serpentine, London, and Senior Advisor at LUMA Arles. Previously, he was a curator at the Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris. Since his first exhibition, World Soup (The Kitchen Show), in 1991, he has curated more than 400 exhibitions.
Obrist has received the CCS Bard Award for Curatorial Excellence (2011), the International Folkwang Prize (2015), Prix François Morellet (2025), the K11 Art Foundation Prize: Curatorial Lighthouse(2026), and the World Around Visionary Award (2026).
