Lebt und arbeitet in Wien Talks: The Artist as Teacher
Kunsthalle Wien Karlsplatz
Treitlstraße 2, 1040 Vienna
18 June 2026, 6.30pm
Judith Eisler, Philipp Fleischmann and Iman Issa in conversation with Carina Bukuts
A collaboration between Kunsthalle Wien and Phileas – The Austrian Office for Contemporary Art in connection with the exhibition Lebt und arbeitet in Wien: Contemporary Art from Vienna at Kunsthalle Wien.
The second talk in a series of four focuses on the perspectives and artistic voices of artists and highlights different aspects of living and working in Vienna. It centers on the question of what it means to take on the dual role of artist and educator, and how these two areas influence each other.
At the intersection of artistic practice, pedagogy, and institutional contexts, the discussion examines different forms of artistic teaching as well as the conditions under which they emerge. It also addresses how institutional frameworks and the structures of artistic education shape pedagogical approaches, and what challenges and opportunities arise for artists as a result.
The event will be in English.
